Hello my blog family and friends. How many will agree there have been numerous times, conflict and confusion could have been avoided, if we had chosen the right words to say? Our words can bring inspiration, joy, life, inflict pain, and leave scars. Proverbs 18:21 says “Life and death are in the power of the tongue.” What we say and how we say it will set the tone for any and all conversations. What we say and how we say it will determine if others will want to follow you on their Christian journey. James 3:10 says “Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.” How can we draw others to Christ if our tone is not Christ like? How can we be an inspiration to others if our conversation is not Christ like? We as Christians need to understand the importance of choosing the right words.
The Bible tells us to be quick to hear and slow to speak (James 1:19). Choose your words before responding to a question, think before you answer. Choose your words before responding to any situation. Proverbs 12:18 says ” There are those who speak rashly, like the piercing of a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” Daily we as Christians should ask God for spiritual wisdom. Lord give me the wisdom I need to treat everybody right. Lord help me be wise when responding to any given situation or problem. Lord let my words be pleasing to you. These are the prayers we need to pray daily. Proverbs 15:1 says ” A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.” We as Christians should always walk in peace. We should strive daily to walk in love and peace. Not only walk in love and peace, but we should be walking in unity. When in unity we agree to walk as one, uplifting one another, being in agreement to treat each other as one. When we decide to treat each other as one, that’s when we will treat others the way we want to be treated. We will then answer others in the tone we want to be answered in. We will then choose the words we want people to say to us when in a debatable conversation.
So, lets work on choosing the wright words this week. Let’s think before we speak. Let’s take a deep breath before responding in the wrong tone, and be mindful of our facial expressions. Be blessed and stay encouraged.
